First Chiefs Game

She's so excited she can't hardly stand it!

Looks like she's going to enjoy football the same way her mom does.

Kisses for mom and well, gas for dad : )

Maverick accepting his new life as the bottom of the totum pole. Poor guy.

First Bath

Starting Caroline out right- KU button and knowing that she's loved!

Caroline at home

Caroline finally got to go home on Friday, November 13th (thankfully we're not superstitious). What a bittersweet day! We are so thankful for her health and praise God everyday. But, life at home is never easy! Please remember to keep us in your prayers as Caroline learns to nurse well and I learn how to care for her and Brandon learns how to deal with both our mood swings!

She is doing very well overall but we are working to keep her awake to eat well. She visited the pediatrician on November 14th and had lost 10% of her birthweight down to 5lb. 4oz- this is the maximum she is allowed to lose.

Caroline's view for the first 4 days of life in the NICU. Praise God she was healthy enough to go home so quickly!

Sweet Caroline Brixey and her pink had and booties.

Mom and Dad's first diaper change. The nurse's had been doing most of this up until this point. But now it was our turn.

Mom holding sweet Caroline. Have you ever seen a more beautiful baby?

Dad holding Caroline in the NICU.

Caroline's special bed in the NICU- next to the window so all of our friends and family could see her.

Caroline's Big Day

We don't really have any good 1st day of life pictures but have them from a friend so hope to get those downloaded in the future.

Caroline Brixey Fields

Born: 5:14pm 11/9/09

Length: 18 inches

Weight: 5 lbs. 13 oz.

Head: 13 inches

Caroline was not waiting to come into the world. I was dialated to a 4 when I came to the hospital and they tried to stop my labor but Caroline was not having any of it. I quickly progressed to a 6 and was admitted. I received my epidural at about an 8- praise God for epidurals! And Caroline was born not long after with about 50 minutes of pushing. She was born at only 35 weeks so was a little early.

She started out doing great but that night developed respiratory difficulty and had to be kept in the NICU. I have to admit, at 1am I didn't really understand what they were telling me.

34 weeks

Here is my belly 4 days before Caroline was born. What a surprise we had in store! We had our maternity pictures taken on November 7th- I will try to get some of those posted on here as well. Then, I had my shower at church on November 8th. At church that night, I began to feel somewhat odd. I had some people feel my stomach but everyone just said, "Ask your OB about it at your next appointment."

I continued to feel consistent pains through the night and called my sister who is a labor and delivery nurse. She told me the same thing- wait it out. I realized that I was probably being silly and went to bed.
I slept until about 1 am and then woke up about every 15 minutes for there on out. I got up and 5 am and took our dog, Maverick, for a walk thinking this would help with the pain. Needless to say, it did not. I took a shower and got ready for work. All the while feeling this same pain.
I again called my sister who told me that if it changed or got worse, then to call her. I did so. Then I called my doctor's office to see if they could get me in early. They couldn't but put me through to the nurse who told me to come in.
